Our organization is running 15 bedded “Saminathan memorial Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for the addicts” at No. 220, Mela Salai, Kuttalam Taluk of Nagapattinam District since April 2016. In our Rehabilitation centre treatment is given to addicted patients such as Alcohol with drugs, Ganja addict, Alcohol with cough syrup, fevicol, sleeping tablets, etc. All these treatments are provided with free of cost with 30 days residential care.
During the year 2019-20, our Rehabilitation centre has rehabilitated 182 various drug addict patients those who belong to
Alcohol and smocking addiction patients – 83,
Alcohol and Hans addiction patients – 31,
Alcohol & Ganja addiction patient – 1,
Alcohol and Tobacco addiction patients – 5
Alcohol and Smoke addiction patients – 58,
Phenedryl syrup patients – 2
Patients using Fevicol as body lotion – 2 .
During the year 2019-20, the age group wise treatment was 21 persons between 19 – 20 years, 40 persons between 21-30 years, 47 persons 31- 40 years, 42 persons 41 – 50 years and 32 persons aged 50 and above. To all of them, our centre provides 30 days/required days of continuous in-patient treatment including medical care, food & accommodation in free of cost, essential medicines and counselling services at our treatment centre. Initially de-toxification treatment is provided for 10 days and re-educative sessions like Alcohol is a disease, Loss and Grief, Anger management, financial management, Self Esteem, Quality of Life, Drug free Life and Relapse Prevention classes are conducted. Individual counselling, Yoga and physiotherapy treatment, meditation, Family Therapy sessions to all the family members of the patients are also conducted. Psychiatric Counsellor provides Psycho analysis counselling to the needed patients along with their family members. After completion of 30 days indoor treatment, further follow-up services up to 24 months also done by our counsellors. Because of our valuable service with free food and residential care, Patients from other districts like Cuddalore, Pudukottai, Namakkal etc., are coming for treatment to our centre. Most of the patients are recommended by the alcoholic recovery patients treated by our centre.
Our centre conducted 50 De-addiction awareness camps at Nagapattinam District, nearby Block of Thanjavur District and Tiruvarur District. In Nagapattinam District Kuttalam Block 29 camps, Mayiladuthurai Block 7 camps, Nannilam Block of Tiruvarur District 1 camp, Tirupanandhal Block of Thanjavur district 7 camps and Tiruvidaimarudur block of Thanjavur district 6 camps. Our centre is conducting Awareness programmes about alcohol and drug abuse at Schools, colleges, Lorry/van/auto/car stands. In these awareness camps Animator, Representatives and women self help group members, Panchayat Level Federation functionaries, Women headed families and Anganwadi workers have participated.
